Teacher Dashboard

The BetterLesson teacher dashboard allows teachers to see their work at a glance. This redesign now allows teachers to keep tabs on in their vision statements, upcoming meetings and favorited content in one place. Previously, the teacher dashboard’s features were limited leaving other parts of the app teachers actively worked with feeling disconnected.

Teacher Story

In their story, teachers have the ability to add artifacts and evidence of growth towards their goals. The story is both one of the most interactive pages and most essential to teachers' work with BetterLesson. Because of this, it has been the most tested and iterated pages for this project. Through user research, it was clear that users needed a simpler way to share updates with their coach. In previous versions, users had to complete a series of required steps prompting teachers to record reflections and select strategies before being able to document their evidence. In a later iteration, teachers could add to their story in any order but were still required to submit a set number of items before it could be considered "complete". With the goal of getting users to submit more high-quality evidence, the process was simplified by eliminating the required sequenced prompts and "completion" requirements. User research and reports were conducted and written in January 2018 and June 2018.

Teacher Profile

The culmination of a teacher’s year with their BetterLesson coach is curated and highlighted in a portfolio on their profile. In the previous year’s version, insights into a teacher’s work lived in multiple places in the app. The teacher portfolio needed to be generated manually leaving a need for a singular view into a teachers’ progress that updates dynamically throughout the year.
